House Tornado by Throwing Muses 4AD – 1988
I remember when I got my first job in a record shop in the late 80′s, I found this album in the racks one day and bought it on the strength of the cover which I thought was stunning.
The artwork itself is created from amazing watercolours and collages by Japanese artist Shinro Ohtake.
The album cover’s art direction and design was by Vaughan Oliver, who was one of my favourite graphic designers from this time.
As it turned out the music was awesome too, but I wouldn’t even have minded if it wasn’t, the cover was so good.
